The day of your wedding is among the most important events in your life. And your guests form an integral part of what makes your wedding day memorable. Making your guest list is an enjoyable process. When else can you have an entire day with your favorite people and friends!? Don’t be overwhelmed by the number of people you’d like to meet or all those people you think you must bring in… we’re here to help you make your guest list that you’ll be able to keep track of using our convenient guest list tool. You’re welcome!
Venue
Where would you like to be married? If you are planning an extravagant event that takes place in an enormous location, then you can go wild with the number of guests. If you’re looking to invite your closest friends and family members to smaller venues, it will give you an idea of how many guests you are able to ask. Budgets also have a significant impact on the decision-making process. However, tricks such as opting to host a buffet or an event instead of a sit-down food service will give the budget some flexibility (yay! ).
Divide the guests on the guest list.
Plan a cozy evening to enjoy a meal with your partner, and note down all the people you would like to include: relatives, members, friends, and any guests you’d like to invite. The optional guests will likely be colleagues from work and distant relatives, as well as those who could be added on to friends or family members. The best method to choose the appropriate people to invite is to consider: Would you be upset when I didn’t get asked to attend their wedding? If you answer yes, then add them to the guest list! Plus, if you decide that you have to reduce guests, you’ll know who to start with! And, if certain members of your friends and family members aren’t able to attend, then you could begin to invite a few of the additional guests.
Families
Think about the number of guests you’re allotting to your families. In the past, when the wedding party’s parents took care of everything, they were given the upper hand when it came to deciding which guests to invite. Today, many couples are able to cover their wedding expenses, and both families are involved, so you should think about ways to have this discussion with your parents. Also, some families are planning to bring their children to the wedding. However, should you decide that you don’t want to consider letting the parents know prior to the wedding in order to organize babysitters?
Timings
You can play around with the timings. It is possible to invite your friends and family members to the wedding ceremony and reception and invite additional guests for food and dancing, or in the opposite direction. It is also possible to invite more guests to the breakfast after the wedding for drinks and dancing. Consider varying the timings and number of guests according to your preferences and budget! Keep in mind that, generally, 20 percent of guests could decline, giving you more choices. But don’t wait for the exact percentage to be rejected! In fact, it’s always worthwhile to ask your caterer what the price will be for last-minute changes in case somebody shows up or falls out!
Don’t forget to mention the bride and the groom.
Once you’ve created the ideal guest list, make sure to include your details on your list. You’ll be shocked that a lot of couples don’t do this and are shocked to discover that the caterer is short on two dishes!
