Ashley Schmeider and James Sisson were of the opinion that a typical wedding was not the right choice for them. So they decided to tie the knot in the mountains of Mount Everest instead. 32-year-old Ashley, as well as 35-year-old James, had a full year planning and preparing for their expedition, and it was no easy feat when they finally made it to Nepal in the early months of March. With their photographer Charleton Churchill and his wife, they took more than three weeks to make it to the 17,000-foot high Base Camp Everest, where they were finally able to say their vows in the midst of the cold, deep snow, and altitude sickness. Churchill’s photographs of the unconventional ceremony reveal a breathtaking combination of deep clear white, azure blue, and rough stone.
